Today, what we want to do in our self defense is we want to have a groin kick that come from either leg. In another words, we want to be able to kick with the front leg too.

The Pendulum Footwork

So, using the technical groin kick, this is quite easy. All you want to do is you use a footwork that is called “The Pendulum”. So, I’am going to start. So, what I do first is I bring my back leg up – my back leg slides up to my front leg and then right away my front leg goesjust like a pendulum. That’s what we call the pendulum footwork.

Bring your back leg up

The pendulum footwork is a footwork by itself and without the kick. All it does is it  slides up and slides back.

The front leg goes

You just get this motion down. And, once you get better at it, you just speed it up. Make it little bit smoother, nice and slow. Just for the sake of learning it better, go real slow in the beginning. And, then all you should do is put in the kick of off the pendulum.

Once the front leg returns to where it was, the back leg goes to the back again. Just like a Pendulum.

We may call it (Pendulum Footwork) technical groin kick with the front leg. Quick Pendulum footwork covers a lot of distance quickly. And, you can nail that groin shot really fast. Speed is key here. We don’t have to be super powerful on a groin kick. Just tap it quickly with the ball of your foot.

Pendulum footwork is not terribly difficult. But you do want to develop it and practice it a lot. On the screen, it may look easy. It’s actually easy as I said already. But you call it easy once you get used to it. So, practice this technique and add it to your self defense techniques.
